Software Development

In-house software development skills have ben used not only for internal system testing and device driver development, but also for complete demonstrator and product development, offering the additional advantage of tight integration with the underlying hardware. Development on all Windows operating systems is fully supported.

A data acquisition system (see image below, right) has been developed for industrial applications, with the capability of displaying several variables each with its own scale, and save them in an Excel file for later processing and storage. The acquisition session is initiated by setting several parameters specific to the application. Communication with sensors is implemented on multiple serial ports.

In the example development visible on the upper right image, the customer required a graphical front-end to preprocess raw incoming data and to generate correspondent MIDI data for three-dimensional virtual source placement. The application has been used for initial debug of the interface, and later as a demonstrator and as the stand-alone application for The Bat, an innovative gesture controller produced by A&G Soluzioni Digitali. This example includes integration with an USB camera, control of external pushbuttons, voice recognition capabilities, MP3 decoding functionality, and Bluetooth-based remote transmission of camera shots; it was possible to print the camera shots directly on a Bluetooth connected printer.

The demonstrator was exhibited in many trade shows and is housed in a 2-meters tall enclosure simulating a giant mobile phone.

This demonstrator emulates all control functions available in a hi-tech car, including voice-controlled radio and phone functions. The application is controlling an external hardware unit and offers an attractive user interface to show in detail all available hardware capabilities. The unit has been fitted inside a car with a full-featured multimedia and speech control section, and shown at many faies and events.
