Small form-factor modules (8x6 cm) offering a high-quality digital audio interface to various formats; a common connector ensures compatibility among different modules. The picoDM series is constantly evolving, so please come back for firmware updates and new models.
Audio & MIDI over Firewire/USB
The picoDM1 and picoDM3 modules offer a stable IEEE-1394 audio interface, with a set of robust MIDI and audio drivers available at no extra cost for Windows XP/Vista (WDM, ASIO) and Mac OS X (Core Audio). The picoDM3 also offers a USB 2.0 high-speed port that can be enabled at boot time instead of IEEE-1394.

picoDM modules represent an ideal solution for adding digital audio connectivity to an existing project or to custom designs. The included firmware provides all required audio and MIDI functions without additional fees or royalties.
The standard firmware offers up to 4 modes, allowing adaptation to different needs; all modes operate from 44.1 to 96 kHz. Mode is selected via serial port, so that the user cannot perform mode changes, and is intended for production only.

Prebuilt firmware releases are available at no extra fee; as a standard practice, ZP Engineering offers customization services for firmware and/or VHDL code on existing picoDM modules, enabling the integration of additional functions and specific capabilities.
As an example, it is possible to enable 4x sample rates (176.8 and 192 kHz) and increase the channel count (for IEEE-1394A only) up to 32in/32out.
Three mounting options are possible (bottom-side, top-side and in-line 2mm header). We offer the bottom-side option as standard, while other options are subject to minimum order quantities.
A custom Control Panel allows direct control of settings, handling up to 4 modules in daisy-chain connection.

Evaluation Board
An evaluation board hosting a picoDM module is available, enabling immediate verification and prototyping; for more details, please go to the picoEVB page.
